That's the Texas we've all come to count on. Today, the Texas Senate race is a Toss Up — and the Governor's race, a seat Republicans have held for a generation, just got downgraded to "Likely R." Iowa. This is a state Republicans have owned at every level for over ten years running — the Governor's mansion, the Legislature, both Senate seats. Today, the Iowa Senate race is a toss-up. And the Iowa Governor's race didn't just tighten — it flipped from "Toss Up" all the way to "Lean D." Texas and Iowa — two states Republicans have owned for more than a decade — are no longer being called safe by the nation's most respected nonpartisan election forecaster. This isn't a fluke. This isn't one bad poll. This is Cook Political Report looking at the map and telling us the truth: if it can happen in Texas and Iowa, it can happen anywhere.
