Independent LGBTQ+ media has always mattered. Since the 2024 election, the need for journalism focused on what’s happening to our community has only become more urgent.

Our Editor-in-Chief, Alex Bollinger, has spent his career covering LGBTQ+ news. In this short message, he talks about what he’s seen change, why having journalists dedicated to our community matters right now, and what it actually takes to keep doing this work.

Because there’s a myth that the internet is free. It isn’t. Every story you read on LGBTQ Nation is reported, written, and edited by real people. And those people need to be paid.
