It’s crunch time, and I need your help

Doug Jones for Alabama

Folks,

As hard as it is to believe, voting has started in Alabama!

Absentee ballots are now available. This race is going to come down to a razor-thin margin, so I want to make sure everyone who isn’t able to get to the polls on November 3rd knows exactly how to vote absentee. The process here in Alabama isn't simple, so let me walk you through it.

The most important thing to know is you need an excuse to vote absentee in Alabama. Maybe you’re required to work a long shift on Election Day, you expect to be out of the state, or you have a physical disability which prevents you from voting in person.

If you’ve got an excuse, you can vote absentee in two ways.

First, you can request an application to be sent to your house by mail. You can find the application for your county here. If you fill one out and send it back, they’ll send you an absentee ballot, and you can return it either by mail or in person.

Second, you can go to your local courthouse and do the same process in person. If you ask for an application, they’ll give you one, and if it’s approved, they’ll give you an absentee ballot.

If you’re going to vote absentee, please make sure to follow the instructions very carefully. You don’t want your ballot getting thrown out. Mail applications must be received by October 27th, and in-person applications must be dropped off by October 29th, but you should send them in much earlier.

Folks, we are in the eleventh hour. Ballots are already in the mail, and we are running out of time to make our case to Alabama voters. We’ve got to keep our ads on the air, our organizers on the ground, and make sure every single eligible person who needs an absentee ballot is able to get one, and all of that is going to take a lot of money.

With ballots already in the mail, can you make a contribution to my campaign today?
