I’m hosting many events in the upcoming weeks, including Java with Jo Anne on Thursday Sept. 17th at 9:30am, a Community Forum on the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT) on Sept. 28th, and more. Community Forum: How the BMT can Benefit Brooklyn, Sept 28. Join us to explore how new approaches at the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT) could serve the public good. The City created a preliminary Vision Plan for a new BMT last year, and they’ve stated that was just the start of the planning process. Come and learn about the Vision Plan, hear about other possible options, and discuss how we can more meaningfully engage in this effort. We will:
* Catch up on BMT updates, what comes next in the City's plan, & how you can impact it.
* Explore how industrial & maritime uses of a modern port can support our regional economy and create jobs.
* Learn how the port is key to using the Blue Highways (our waterways) to move goods & reduce trucks on our streets and reduce pollution.
* Hear from elected officials & industry experts on what’s possible–and share your thoughts! There will be audience Question & Answer.
Whatever happens at the BMT will have significant impacts on the community, from environmental to transportation, schools, open space, housing and more. Please come ready to learn and ask questions.

Flu Shot Drive, Oct. 1. Sen. Andrew Gounardes and I are partnering with NYU Langone Health to provide free flu shots to the community on Thurs. October 1st, 12noon-6pm, Cobble Hill ED, 70 Atlantic Ave. Insurance is not required. However, you must be at least 18 years old to receive a flu shot. No-Cost Mammograms, Nov. 13. My office is partnering with the Italian American Cancer Foundation to bring the mammogram bus to my office on Fri. November 13 starting at 9am. Mammograms are free, for anyone with or without insurance, 40-79 years old, who have not had a mammogram for one year. Call my office at 718-246-4889 or email
