Speaker Mike Johnson just sent the House home – seven weeks early.
House Republicans were scheduled to keep working through Thursday. Instead, Johnson announced Wednesday that members would take their last votes tonight and leave Washington until AFTER the November elections.
Why the rush?
He doesn’t want his party voting on impeaching Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the war with Iran, and the only way to dodge it was to shut the whole chamber down and go home.
