Patriot,
Nineteen years ago today, an act of unfathomable malice and
cruelty mutilated New York City and the Pentagon.
The scale of mayhem and death unleashed on America is difficult
to comprehend. Nearly 3,000 people were killed, and another
25,000 injured, in four planes, in several buildings and in
Shanksville, Pennsylvania—not all of them Americans.
Among the dead were husbands and wives; mothers and fathers;
children and grandparents—from every race, religion and gender,
and from over ninety countries.
Over a thousand people developed cancer from exposure to the
ruins of the Twin Towers. Ten billion dollars’ worth of damage
was done to infrastructure and property.
Three hundred and forty-three firefighters, seventy-two law
enforcement officers and fifty-five military personnel died.
As we sat, slack-jawed in horror, glued to our television
screens, we knew we were witnessing a calamity that would change
the world forever, committed by a savage ideology that hates us
and plots our destruction.
And yet, nearly twenty years on, America is still learning the
lessons from this barbarism.
The voters of Minnesota not only tolerate but have re-nominated a
Congresswoman who laughingly dismissed 9/11 with the words, "Some
people did some thing." Rep. Ilhan Omar may have contempt for
America and the ideals that yoke us together, but the rest of us
see each September 11 as an opportunity to reflect on the loss of
life, to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of those
firefighters, police officers and Pentagon employees, and to
remind ourselves of what’s truly great about these United States.
I was propelled into public life when I walked into a 9/11
memorial service, as a young student at Barry University in
Florida, and was handed a crib sheet telling me that I should
repeat "allahu akbar" at regular intervals throughout a sermon
conducted by an imam from a Terror-tied mosque.
It was the most offensive and tone-deaf instance of woke liberal
pandering I’ve ever experienced.
It made me realize how much work we have left to do.
Democrat America’s answer to Islamic terror is pacification and
even embrace.
But I have a different vision for our country. One in which we
don’t indulge monsters, but instead come together under a shared
set of ideas, dedicated to liberty, mutual respect and democracy.
Only by insisting on these common values can we guarantee the
continued success of our great nation.
There still are people out there today suffering from disease and
alone, without their husbands, wives or children. Our hearts go
out to these 9/11 families today as we pray for their comfort and
their peace.
We will never forget. God bless America.
Respectfully,
Laura Loomer
