Friends,
19 years later, we remember the lives and loved ones of all who died from the deadliest terrorist attack in our history.
We must never forget the thousands of beautiful lives we lost that day, or the thousands of heroic first responders who have died since then from diseases they developed while saving lives on Ground Zero. And no matter how much time passes, we must never stop caring for the first responders who are still suffering from 9/11-related illnesses, especially as COVID-19 devastates our nation and leaves those with many cancers and respiratory illnesses more vulnerable.
Today, let us also recommit to our vision of a brighter future for our country and our world — a future without terror or violence or endless wars. If we unite behind that vision, I have faith that a more peaceful, just world is possible.
In solidarity,
Ilhan Omar
