President Trump recently threatened to hire sheriffs to police polling locations -- something he cannot do. Nonetheless, the threat could intimidate voters from casting ballots as they already face unprecedented barriers to vote during the pandemic.

Thankfully, Americans around the country are stepping up.

More Than A Vote is a coalition of Black athletes and artists who are spearheading a multimillion-dollar campaign to expand opportunities for voters and protect the vote -- including recruiting poll workers as the country faces a shortage of folks able to volunteer.

"The time for change is now. Join the protest against Black voter suppression."

Voter intimidation and voter suppression could have a huge impact on what happens in this election.

Securing a safe and accessible election this fall is an important step to achieving fair maps in 2021 and fair elections for the next decade. Fairness and equality -- cornerstone values of our democracy -- are on the line.
