Dear friend,
It's been 19 years since the September 11th attacks shocked the world and devastated our nation. Nearly three thousand people lost their lives in New York, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania -- 750 of them New Jerseyans.
That tragic day forever changed our state, our country, and the world. It has had an immense impact on my own life and the lives of far too many in our community. One of the things that has stuck with me the most is how, in the immediate aftermath, we came together to heal.
First responders saved lives, leaders secured funding to rebuild communities, and soldiers signed up to serve abroad to defend our nation. No one cared if you were a Democrat or a Republican, we banded together as Americans.
Although our political climate may feel more divided than ever, I hope we can continue to find common ground as we did in the days after the attacks 19 years ago.
After the tragic attacks on September 11th, many made the ultimate sacrifice in an effort to achieve peace and security. May we honor their memories today and everyday by working together to move this country forward.
Thank you,
Andy
