On this day 19 years ago, time stood still.
It was a day when thousands of innocent lives were lost, when countless first responders and regular citizens risked their own lives to save the lives of strangers ... and so many proud Americans stepped forward to protect our nation.
Today, on Patriot Day, we pause to remember all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. And we honor the men and women who serve and protect our country every day.
It is also the culmination of DAV's annual Field of Flags today. The 3,873 American flags flying in the field behind DAV National Headquarters serve as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of our nation and the many sacrifices made for our freedom.
Help honor the sacrifices of our brave men and women in uniform -- and show them that you are there for them today and every day -- by making a special gift to DAV.
