Trump’s revenge tour is not just politics as usual. It is an existential threat to the foundation of American freedom and democracy, just in time to mark its 250th year in existence. 

Trump’s vengeful and legally frivolous prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey has been rejected multiple times by judges. Despite his attempts to revive the case in even sympathetic forums, judges across the country have recognized it for what it is: malicious, selective prosecution of a political enemy of the president. 

Things may have worked the way they should for this case. But this is just pure luck: as Trump and the GOP-majority Senate continue to stack the federal judiciary with MAGA loyalists and fight to elect court jesters instead of fair and impartial judges in the states, anyone who opposes Trump could be targeted next—and they may not be so lucky.

The system cannot hold much longer like this.

This is what Defend Our Courts is truly fighting for: justice, equality under the law, due process. The things that had once made America a beacon of freedom and hope around the world. 

Those notions are under attack. With alarming speed and precision, Trump is killing what is left of the very idea of justice and fairness under law. 

Our work isn’t just about judges and courts: it is about preventing America from becoming a third world banana republic. 

Should we lose this battle to Trump and to MAGA, we will not be able to win back what we lost in free and fair elections ever again.
