In 2014, the Odessa shooter failed a background check.
He tried to buy a gun, but had a "disqualifying mental health issue."
So he turned to a private seller.
One who was willing to sell him an assault weapon without a background check.
He succeeded.
He bought the weapon.
And then he killed seven people. And wounded almost two dozen more.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a better example of why background checks are so important -- why they save lives.
Yet Mitch McConnell refuses to hold a vote on the legislation.
So it's time we vote him out. But Gabby can't do it alone:

Background checks save lives. We know this because states with stronger background checks have fewer gun deaths.
