[ [link removed] ]I haven't registered to vote yet. Here's why
Hi—
Four years ago, right after the shooting in Uvalde, I felt so useless. I
didn't know how to stop the next tragedy from happening — I just knew I
had to do something. That's how I ended up doing some research and finding
Students Demand Action.
Since then, I've been so excited to turn 18 and become eligible to vote
for the first time.
Today is National Voter Registration Day, and I have a confession: I
haven't registered yet. I turn 18 just a few days before Election Day, and
I've decided to register in person, on the day itself, because that's
allowed in my state, and I want it to be memorable.
But here's the thing — you don't have to wait for a "moment" to make your
voice count.
You just have to make a plan.
Gun violence is the leading cause of death for young people in this
country. That's not an abstract statistic; it's our friends, our families,
our classmates, and our futures. Our legislators need to be reminded that
they work for us. If they won't protect us, we'll replace them with
someone who will.
I know it can feel like one vote doesn't matter. But voting is the one
sure way we make our voices impossible to ignore. And when you see turnout
numbers this November, I want you to know that one of them is you.
[ [link removed] ]So today, on National Voter Registration Day, make your plan to vote
this November and prove that we can't be ignored.

Remember how excited you felt the day you turned 18? Voting is one of the
things you actually gain. Don't let it go to waste.
Thank you,
Stella Osiedacz
