Hello Comrades,

Some friendly updates regarding the upcoming Convention on this Saturday, September 12th!

The Convention Planning Subcommittee originally set a deadline of September 4th for new members to register for our first-ever online Convention. This was done in order to maintain the safety and security of the Convention and the integrity of our votes. That said, in light of navigating the unprecedented challenge of holding an online convention, we want all our new comrades to feel welcome and have pushed the deadline for new member registration to Friday, September 11th at noon.

Some 411 on RSVPing:

  1. Please RSVP through Action Network to receive your Zoom Registration link for Convention
  2. After you RSVP, if you are a member in good standing and your information is up-to-date, you will receive an e-mail containing a Zoom link where you can register for the meeting. If you are not a member or there is a problem with your info (you can also check the status of your membership here), you will receive an e-mail explaining what to do next.
  3. Click link in e-mail to register with Zoom.
  4. Wait to receive final Zoom confirmation after a second, manual check of your membership by one of our volunteer comrades. This may take a couple hours or a whole evening if you do it late at night, but it will get done.
  5. Be sure to please check your spam folders!

  6. If after a few hours you still haven’t heard anything, email [email protected] and we will look into it.
This is DSA-LA’s first online convention and we hope everyone can bear with the organizers as we try to deal with the special challenges posed by that situation. Remember, we need to have a very secure online space in order to maintain the integrity of the voting and safety of our members.

Other Convention Info:

  • Find all of the proposed items, amendments for proposed items, the agenda and more in our Annual Convention Member Kit.
  • Unsure what happens at our local convention? Here’s a handy Convention FAQ!
  • Read member statements for and against the proposals and amendments
  • New to Robert’s Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure? It’s essentially a code of ethics to be followed by individuals in a group to conduct business. Here’s a great member-lead tutorial on Robert's Rules (and a great cheat sheet, too).

All members that attend Saturday’s Convention will get a limited edition DSA-LA t-shirt (form collecting your size and address to ship to will be emailed to all attendees post-convention).

All things Convention-related live on this page. See you Saturday at 9am!

In solidarity,

Your Annual Convention Planning Subcommittee
