Friend, this week a series of fires erupted in Greece’s Moria refugee camp. More than 12,000 people are without a safe place to stay. The fires also destroyed a COVID-19 medical facility and forced the interruption of all medical services for refugees, including at the pediatric clinic run by MSF. We are working to reopen our clinic with a skeleton team and help individuals affected by the blaze.
The scale of the catastrophe is devastating, yet this disaster is no surprise. For years, MSF has called on Greek health and migration authorities to address the camp’s inhumane conditions, but our concerns have been ignored. Now, the ashes of Moria are a testament to that neglect and failure.
