Friend,

Suicide is one of the most heartbreaking tragedies, and it has had a devastating impact on many families across Minnesota and our country.

With today being Suicide Prevention Day, I remain committed to making sure ALL Minnesotans have access to mental health care.

We cannot allow the tragedy of suicide to continue to ravage our communities. If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out for help and remember that you are not alone.

This issue has always been of the utmost importance to me, and I remain committed to helping all Minnesotans get the mental health care they need and deserve.

On Thursdays, we usually highlight community law enforcement organizations as part of our #ThankACop initiative. It’s important to remember that our peace officers are among those most at risk for mental health challenges, and suicide rates among those in the law enforcement profession are on the rise. Today, I encourage you to read about these two programs the Chicago Police Department is piloting to prevent officer suicides: https://herald-review.com/news/state-and-regional/chicago-police-launching-programs-to-help-prevent-suicides/article_6e0ff029-b056-5734-a428-08efe0adfaac.html.

Through kindness and compassion, we can make a difference and prevent the heartbreak of suicide. We need to support programs and organizations battling this righteous cause. I am proud to be a part of this fight, and my efforts won’t stop until this is no longer an issue we face as Minnesotans and Americans.

For Minnesota and America,
P.S. If you or someone you know is struggling with a mental health crisis or having suicidal thoughts, please reach out to the National Alliance on Mental Health’s (NAMI) Crisis Line ASAP by calling 800-950-NAMI or texting "NAMI" to 741-741.
