VFH 200910 Voting Rights

“I don’t want everybody to vote.” – Paul Weyrich

That’s what the co-founder of the Heritage Foundation, a major conservative think tank, said back in 1980, and John, not much has changed in Republicans’ thinking in the 40 years since then.

Republicans believe their chances of winning elections goes up when the number of voters goes down. That’s why they’ve spent years suppressing votes through partisan gerrymandering and restrictive voting laws.

And in 2020, it’s only gotten worse.

At Vote From Home 2020, we are mailing ballot applications to voters in swing states and following up with them to make sure their votes are counted. Your contributions fund our work. If you can, chip in today.

Trump and Republicans are attacking our constitutional right to vote -- the cornerstone of our democracy -- by:

  • Undermining voting from home
  • Sabotaging the Post Office
  • Suing states for mailing ballots to voters
  • Threatening to intimidate voters at polling stations
  • Encouraging voters to commit voter fraud by voting twice

That’s what we’re up against. And that’s why it’s so important that we take Michelle Obama’s advice to heart.

“Make sure your friends, families, and communities are registered, know their rights, and are fully prepared to vote by mail this year or vote early in person.”
- Michelle Obama

Victory in 2020 runs straight through voting from home. It depends on it.

Voters will cast an estimated 80 million mail-in ballots this year, more than double the number in 2016. And in swing states like Michigan, election officials expect a 70% to 90% increase in voting from home -- and that’s just in Detroit.

We’re reaching out to Democrats to make sure they complete their ballots and return them on time so they’re counted this November. If you can, chip in today.

Thanks,

Team VFH 2020

------------
Vote From Home 2020 is a grassroots movement that's making vote by mail more accessible. With a $25 donation, we'll send vote by mail applications to 20 voters. COVID-19 has brought America to a halt, and with it almost all in-person voter mobilization efforts. While volunteers can’t get on buses to swing states or go door-to-door right now, there is a huge opportunity for progressives, especially in solidly blue states, to get out the vote where it counts. By sending vote by mail ballots to targeted states and following up with text and calls to voters, we can ensure the 2020 general election is safe and accessible. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $25 so consider donating that today to support voting rights.
