Yesterday was an especially tragic day for our country. It was
bad enough when we thought so many lives had been lost because
Donald Trump misjudged the severity of the virus and bungled the
response. But yesterday, we learned, in his own voice, that Trump
knew the virus was deadly and devastating -- and deliberately
"downplayed" it with the public.

Frankly, it's difficult to fathom the depravity required to
execute such a morally corrupt act.

As we approach the grim tally of 200,000 Americans dead from
COVID 19 -- the highest death toll in the world --it's painful to
imagine how many lives could have been saved and suffering
avoided if Trump had not lied. We've seen millions of jobs lost,
schools closed, and families struggling to make ends meet all
because Trump decided to "downplay" the virus and refused to take
early effective action.
