McConnell rips McGrath again over comparing Trump's election to 9/11 in new political ad

Sen. Mitch McConnell’s reelection team continues to hammer challenger Amy McGrath ahead of the November election over her 2017 comments comparing President’s Donald Trump’s election win to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The McConnell campaign’s latest political ad, released Thursday morning, introduces viewers to retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Jim Clark, a Kentucky resident who was at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. on the day of the attacks. McGrath’s comment in 2017, Clark says in the ad, “is and always will be unacceptable.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell meets with owner of Taz Trucking in BG, talks second stimulus package

Thursday afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke to a small crowd at Taz Trucking. The owner of the company, Tahir Zukic expressed gratitude for his visit. Zukic is a Bosnian immigrant who started Taz Trucking in 2004. His business was one of many to receive aid from McConnell’s C.A.A.R.E.S Act. During the event, McConnell also talked about how he hoped a second relief package is passed. Right now, the U.S. Senate has hit a stalemate amid negotiations. “I must tell you the environment in Washington right now is exceedingly partisan because of the proximity to the election,” Senator McConnell said. “We’ve been in discussion for about a month or so with no results so far.” When asked what he would like to see in a new relief bill, Senator McConnell said he would want hospitality workers to receive another $1200 stimulus check. He would also ideally extend funding for states’ unemployment funds.

Amy McGrath Equates Supporting Her Campaign to Serving in Uniform

During an August 29 virtual event, McGrath told members of her veterans coalition that by "helping this campaign," they were "doing as much" to help the country as when they "wore the uniform." Retired master sergeant George Kaelin, a 26-year Air Force veteran, called the comparison "degrading." "It irritates me because there's nothing that compares to serving in the military," Kaelin told the Washington Free Beacon. "I've been next to people with their legs blown off. I've had friends go out on missions and not come back. I've been shot at. There are people trying to kill you. It's not comparable at all." Combat veteran Matthew Wynn agreed, telling the Free Beacon that McGrath's comments were a "slap in the face to me and my fellow brothers and sisters."
