This was my thirteenth oversight visit at an ICE facility, and we can never normalize what I saw.
I recently visited the Phoenix ICE Field Office, and, John, the extreme neglect and lack of oversight at this facility was horrific.
Between December of 2025 and March of 2026, there were 11 calls made to 911 for people having intense medical issues, such as fainting or seizures. It made me question the conditions of this facility, and how the people here are being treated.
There is hardly any access to quality food, no access to showers, and no beds.
This isn’t just happening in Phoenix, John. Nationally, more than 52 people have died in ICE custody since this administration began its assault on immigrant communities.
These are not people to Donald Trump or Stephen Miller. These are quotas, numbers, and a way to push their fascist, extremist deportation agenda.
While Republicans rip away health care, they funnel billions of dollars to ICE, and yet the detainees barely have the resources to survive.
I do not and would never support giving money to terrorize and hurt people. Just in Arizona, we have over 400,000 people who lost access to food assistance, 200,000 of those being children.
These are all people. These are families, friends, neighbors, employees, brothers and sisters. And, John, these are victims.
I will continue to fight to ensure there are basic standards of human dignity met anywhere our taxpayer dollars are funding. And ultimately, we need to continue to fight to abolish ICE.
I need your support to continue this fight. If you stand with me, will you rush $10 or anything you can to help my fight against ICE?
