Hi John,

Tomorrow marks the 19th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks, so I want to take a moment to honor those who lost their lives on this tragic day for our country.

I joined the Marine Corps infantry because of these attacks, subsequently serving combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Like so many of our military men and women, I felt a calling to serve my country -- a calling that I still feel and strive to answer every day.

As a nation, we must never forget those who lost their lives in these attacks. We must honor the sacrifices of the firefighters and police officers who responded that day and those who continue to do their duty for our country today. And we must continue to respect and appreciate the men and women who serve in our military. The tragic events that transpired 19 years ago should remind us that, even though things may seem so divided, we’re all Americans and we need to face the difficult challenges before us together.

We must once again respond to the call to serve our country and our neighbors. And even though times are tough, I know that is what will see us through.

So tomorrow, as we solemnly remember those who lost their lives in the tragic events of September 11th, let’s make a renewed commitment to our country and to each other.

Respectfully,

Jared
