As his Democratic primary opponent, I got to share a debate stage with John. I asked him about when he was Mayor of Braddock and chased an unarmed Black jogger down the street with a gun and held him at gunpoint. Specifically, I asked him to apologize. I told him: “For somebody who has cut an image of an incredibly tough guy, you’re so afraid of two little words: ‘I’m sorry’.” He refused. And that’s how I knew back in 2022 that John Feterman was insincere and putting on an act. I wasn’t able to beat him back then — he was the sitting Lt. Governor and had lots of advantages.
