Like many military collectors, Tate owned two completely harmless, non-functioning display pieces — inert rocket launcher tubes with drilled receivers and all internal firing mechanisms stripped out. These are harmless novelties sold openly to collectors every day without paperwork.

To build a fake crime, government "experts" tampered with his property. Prosecutors brought in live weapon parts that Tate never owned, attached them to his harmless display tubes, forced one to fire, and then claimed his collectible was an illegal "destructive device."

Based on evidence fabricated by the Biden-era ATF, Tate was convicted in 2023 and sentenced to more than twenty years in federal prison.
