Chicago families deserve honest math before another tax proposal

Friend,
If your family budget was nearly $900 IN THE RED, nobody would call
that good news.
But that is essentially what Mayor Brandon Johnson wants Chicago
taxpayers to believe.
The city is now projecting an $882.4 MILLION BUDGET GAP FOR 2027, and
instead of treating that like the warning sign it is, City Hall is
already trying to frame the number as progress because it is smaller
than last year’s forecast.
CHICAGO FAMILIES DESERVE BETTER THAN THAT.
They deserve honest math.
DEMAND HONEST BUDGET MATH

They deserve to know where the money is going, what can be cut, which
vacancies can stay unfilled, where waste can be reduced, and how much
more debt or refinancing will cost down the road.
And most of all, they deserve answers BEFORE City Hall comes back
asking working families to pay more.
Illinois Republicans believe government should LIVE WITHIN ITS MEANS,
RESPECT TAXPAYERS, and STOP TREATING EVERY BUDGET HOLE LIKE AN EXCUSE
FOR ANOTHER TAX HIKE.
NO NEW TAXES BEFORE REAL REFORM

An $882 million hole is still an $882 million hole.
And taxpayers should not be asked to fill it until City Hall proves it
has done everything possible to fix the problem first.
