John – A while back I told you that most fundraising deadlines are bullshit. I meant it. Nobody’s “urgent quadruple match” ever saved democracy.

So let me explain why I’m emailing you about tonight's deadline:

Tonight our team will sit down and adjust the budget.

We’ll decide how many TV ads we can book to reach undecided voters.

We’ll see how many organizers we can pay to knock on doors and talk to voters.

We’ll know if we stand a chance against the over $60 MILLION Republicans are spending to try to defeat us.

That’s it. No sky falling. Just math: what’s in the account at 11:59 PM night decides what we can afford next.
