Today is Grandparents Day, and I am thinking about my Bubby.

She came here with my newborn mom after they were both liberated by U.S. Army soldiers from Buchenwald, a Nazi concentration camp.

Both of them instilled in me a deep appreciation for our American values of freedom and opportunity for all. I have always been profoundly inspired by their stories and their commitment to believing in a better future.

(Yes, that baby is me!)

Learning about my family's story was what first drove me to commit my life to public service. Since then, I've dedicated my career to ensuring that all people — no matter their gender, ethnicity, faith, or who they love — are free from discrimination, hatred, and oppression.

I will be a governor for all Coloradans, because I believe all of us deserve the kind of opportunity this country showed my grandparents and my mother when they first arrived here as refugees.

None of us deserve to live in fear of our rights and freedoms being stripped away by the lawless bullies in the Trump administration.

None of us ought to worry about making ends meet, finding housing we can afford, or seeing a doctor.

And not a single one of us should have to watch our kids leave the state they were raised in, just because they don't have a shot at building a life here.

I say, it's time to stand up and fight like hell for our futures, our kids, and our values.

Thanks to my Bubby, I am grateful to know firsthand the promise of America. And, as Colorado's next governor, I will work every single day to uphold our ideals of liberty and justice for all. So I am humbly asking: will you make a donation of $25 or any amount to our people-powered campaign today? Your support will help us earn the votes we need to win >>>
