This leadership race is an important moment to build momentum as a party: by growing our membership, raising money, and bringing attention to Greens and what we stand for.

At a time when our membership numbers have dropped, I hope you’ll join Greens across the country in helping grow our membership by speaking with three friends, neighbours, or family members about joining or re-joining the party.

Why? Because the stronger our numbers, the more energy and attention we will have on the national stage to move our shared priorities forward.

As a long-time social entrepreneur, community organizer, and civic leader, I have had the opportunity to get to know my community and what is most important to them. And as the recent Member of Parliament for Kitchener Centre, I know firsthand the difference that elected Greens can make.

As an MP, I was proud to work across party lines to secure tens of millions of dollars for affordable housing in my community, and play a role advocating alongside the disability community to secure more amendments to the Canada Disability Benefit legislation than every other MP in the country, combined.

Now, I am running to lead the party, to help build the movement we need to confront the billionaire class, and fight for a thriving, fair and clean economy that works for us all.

That means calling for a government that prioritizes and invests in people – from housing to healthcare to childcare – by making sure the ultra-rich pay their fair share, while taking decisive action on the climate emergency.

It also means calling to protect and expand our democracy, and pushing for Canada to lead international efforts for a more peaceful, equitable, and stable world.

To build this movement, we also need to invest in our party’s readiness to enact the change we want to see in the world. This includes ensuring our party is governed effectively, so we can earn the trust of Canadians to elect Greens across the country, and giving every riding in the country a pathway to success, targeting our most winnable ridings each election, while building every riding’s capacity for future growth.

I hope you’ll join me in this important work – for our climate, for democracy, and for a government that works for all of us.
