As a pediatrician, I’ve cared for thousands of children and their families. I’ve seen the relief of parents who know their kids are protected -- and the fear when preventable diseases spread.

That’s why I dedicated my career to ensuring every child has access to lifesaving care. I co-founded a nonprofit that helped 65,000 children get health coverage. In the state legislature, we cut the number of uninsured Californians by more than half.

Then came the Disneyland measles outbreak.

Families were scared. Doctors were overwhelmed. Kids who should have been safe were put at risk.

So I acted. I introduced legislation to ensure every child could safely attend school, but RFK Jr. and the anti-vaccine movement mobilized to stop us. They spread lies and threats, even targeting my family.

But I refused to back down.

We stood with parents, doctors, and public health leaders -- and we won. Vaccination rates rose, schools stayed safe, and California hasn’t had a major measles outbreak since.

Now those same lies are spreading across the country -- this time from inside the government itself. RFK Jr. is using his platform to put families at risk, while MAGA Republicans in Congress work to rip away health care from millions.

I became a doctor to heal people.

I served in office to protect them.

And I’m running for Congress now because families deserve leaders guided by science, empathy, and courage -- not fear and misinformation.
