This exact situation happened in Wisconsin last year when Elon Musk dumped $20 million to influence one single supreme court race. It’s happening again in Ohio right now.

A billionaire, from Pennsylvania no less, has already spent ten figures and counting to support former-DOGE boss Vivek Ramaswamy in the governor’s race. That's more than Democrat Amy Acton has raised from all of her donors combined. 

Why is all of this investment happening in Ohio? Because with a win for governor, anti-democracy forces can fill a key seat on the state's redistricting commission — an entity that has enabled Republican gerrymandering in the past. Wins in the governor, auditor, and secretary of state races could swing this commission and make a path to fairer maps possible. That's why we’ve endorsed Democracy Defender candidates in these races.
