There is a lot of uncertainty right now. But we're not standing still.

We're taking action to protect our communities, support our local economy and invest in the next generation.

Strengthening behavioral health care

More than 800 behavioral health and community leaders packed the UIC Forum for Cook County's second Behavioral Health Summit.

The summit brought together providers, advocates, community organizations and public health leaders to strengthen partnerships, expand access to care and identify ways to move our behavioral health system forward.

We also planned for what's coming: deep federal cuts to Medicaid, public health and substance-use programs will put more pressure on the behavioral health system. Cook County will continue prioritizing grants that put resources directly into community organizations providing critical behavioral health services.

NEW RESOURCE: The Cook County Health Office of Behavioral Health has also launched a new website, giving residents and community partners one place to find behavioral health resources, programs, events and funding opportunities. Explore the new behavioral health resource hub → ([link removed])

The economic cost of Trump’s “Midway Blitz”

A year ago, ICE rolled into Chicago with an operation it proudly branded "Midway Blitz." A new UIC report found Trump's operation led to an estimated $1.26 billion less in spending at Cook County retailers and restaurants, along with $107 million in lost sales-tax revenue. Those numbers still can’t fully capture the fear and uncertainty this has caused for families and business owners.

Cook County isn't backing down. We'll keep standing with our immigrant communities and the small businesses and commercial corridors that keep our economy moving. Over the last four years, we've invested nearly $100 million directly into 38,000 businesses - capital, grants and expertise that turn potential into prosperity.

Inspiring the next generation

For years, I’ve been proud to support the Chicago Football Classic and its mission to inspire African-American high school and college students to pursue educational excellence and explore opportunities at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

On Saturday, I was honored to serve as Grand Marshal of the 29th Annual Chicago Football Classic.

That mission comes with real investment behind it. Through its College Fair and scholarship programs, the Classic connects students with opportunities and financial support to chase their goals and it has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships.

I'm proud to support a tradition that shows what's possible when we invest in young people and hand them the tools to succeed.
