I grew up in Dallas, raised by a single mom. A public school teacher, she worked two jobs — and still held her breath every time she swiped her debit card to pay for our groceries. My mom worked hard and played by the rules. But no matter how hard she tried, the system seemed rigged against her.
When I look around today, I see too many hardworking Texans struggling just like she did. But the corrupt politicians who cut corners and break the rules? Seems like they’re doing just fine.
People like my mom shouldn’t have to wonder whether their card will get declined when they’re trying to buy groceries. They shouldn’t have to lay awake at night worrying about how they’ll pay their bills. And they certainly shouldn’t have to shoulder all that stress while the politicians who are supposed to represent them focus on lining their pockets instead.
That’s why, if I’m elected to Congress, I’ll fight for five things that will make every Texan’s life better.
1. Lower Costs
Gas costs almost a dollar more per gallon than it did last year. And groceries have increased more than 4% in the last year alone.
No Texan should have to choose between groceries, medicine, and keeping the lights on. My affordability plan [ [link removed] ] takes on price gouging, costly tariffs, and high utility bills.
2. A Government That Cannot Be Bought
Trump and the GOP are selling our government to the highest bidder through crypto and foreign gifts. They’re lining their pockets with congressional stock trading and giving handouts to the president’s kids.
I’ll work to ban congressional stock trading, corporate PAC money donations, and the revolving door between Congress and lobbying.
3. A Real Chance To Own a Home
The median age for Texas homebuyers used to be 31. Now, it’s 58.
First-time homebuyers used to make up 32% of home purchases. Now, they only account for 21% of home sales.
I’ll fight for more affordable housing, stop corporations from gouging renters, and give first-time homebuyers meaningful relief.
4. An Immigration System With Order and Dignity
ICE is running unchecked through our streets, detaining and killing citizens and noncitizens alike. Because of them, parents are afraid to take their kids to school. Business owners are struggling to stay open. Families are fleeing in the middle of the night because they’re terrified something will happen to them.
I’ll vote to abolish ICE and restore order and dignity to our immigration system.
5. A Fair Shot for Every Texas Family
Child care in Texas now costs more than in-state college tuition.
Private employers don’t have to provide paid family leave. Drug costs are soaring, Social Security is threatened, and college tuition costs are staggering.
I’ll work to make child care affordable again. I’ll fight for paid family leave, lower drug prices, stronger Social Security, and education that does not leave young people buried in debt.
We Must Do Better
Enough is enough — we have to take a stand. That’s why I’m running for Congress.
Taking on Trump and his rubberstamp GOP minions won’t be easy, but I’ve never backed down from a tough fight.
But I can’t get to Congress alone: I refuse to take a dime of corporate PAC money, so I rely on the support of grassroots donors like you. Please, chip in $25 or more right now to help me win this seat and flip the House blue this November. [ [link removed] ]
