A simple truth about election integrity: it’s not a conspiracy theory, it’s list maintenance — and blue states are failing at it.
Analysis of the 2024 voter rolls found that blue states accounted for roughly 85% of the nation’s duplicate voter registrations. That’s not a rounding error. New York alone had over 511,000 duplicate registrations simultaneously active, according to one recent review. New Jersey’s rolls carried more than 32,000 questionable records, per the Public Interest Legal Foundation. And it’s not just one study — PILF’s national report, “Critical Condition,” documented dead voters, duplicates, and errors across the country.
To be fair, this isn’t a red-state-vs-blue-state morality play. Red states have messes too — Arkansas just found nearly 1,300 people registered there and in Tennessee or Alabama. What the heck North Carolina? The difference? Red states are hunting duplicates down. The states with the worst bloat keep resisting basic list maintenance, treating every cleanup request as voter suppression.
Duplicates don’t guarantee fraud, but they guarantee opportunity — and they erode the one thing elections can’t function without: confidence. Cleaning the rolls shouldn’t be partisan. It’s housework. Do it.
