Twenty-five years ago, more than 17,000 people from 189 countries came together in Beijing, China, to talk about the rights and needs of women. The signing of the Beijing Declaration on September 15, 1995 was seen as a remarkable step forward in raising the status of women around the world and addressing the systemic obstacles to dignity and wellbeing that face women and girls.

While progress since has been made, we know that too often there are those who are still left behind. There is still much to be done to achieve the vision created in Beijing years ago.
* We need to transform the way that we view and provide healthcare.

* We must interrogate the systems that deny the ability for women and girls of color to thrive.

* We must rebuild and reconsider an approach that comes from a human rights and reproductive justice frame to not only improve the global health of women, but begin to secure liberation.
