Ms. Foundation for Women

Hi John,

This afternoon, Bianca Lawson will join Ms. Foundation President and CEO Teresa C. Younger for a conversation on how women and girls of color do more with less. Be sure to tune in to our Instagram page at 12pm PST / 3pm EST!

Bianca Lawson has been in the business for over 20 years, acting since the age of nine. She currently stars in the critically acclaimed series Queen Sugar, produced by Ms. Foundation 2018 Woman of Vision Honoree Ava DuVernay, in which she has captured viewers and impacted audiences through her portrayal of Darla, a former addict struggling to regain her sobriety.

Today’s conversation will cover the importance of women of color leadership across all sectors, their experiences as Black women in Hollywood, philanthropy, and beyond, and how it’s time women and girls of color received more than mere pocket change. Together, they’ll reflect on our new report Pocket Change: How Women and Girls of Color do More with Less, which reveals that total philanthropic giving per woman and girl of color was just $5.48 in 2017.

Don’t miss the final episode of our Pocket Change IG Live series, in which Teresa has been in conversation with leaders on how we can ensure that women and girls of color on the frontlines are receiving the support they desperately need. You can find all episodes here.
