As you read this, the GOP is up on TV with ads against Teresa — all because she refused to support a sham Republican bill. Why? Because she refused to play along with their “stock trading ban” which she called fool’s gold. Their bill still allowed members of Congress to own stocks, acquire more stocks, and sell stocks. And it left out President Trump — even as questions continue to mount about how his presidency has benefited his family financially. Teresa fought to make their sham bill a real ban. She offered amendments to prohibit members of Congress from trading individual stocks and to extend the rules to the President, Vice President, Cabinet secretaries, and other political appointees. Republicans voted them down. So Teresa voted no. National Republicans already have a COLOSSAL fundraising advantage heading into the November midterms. Now they’re trying to use their MAGA money to flip our district. All this while New Mexicans struggle to afford basic necessities like groceries and gas. It’s simple: Republican lawmakers don’t want a champion para la gente in our district. Teresa doesn’t own individual stocks. She has supported a real ban on congressional stock trading every Congress since she was elected. She believes public service should be about serving people — not politicians serving their stock portfolios. And Republicans know exactly where she stands. That’s why they’re trying to bury New Mexico voters in misleading attack ads before November. We’re not going to let MAGA money rewrite Teresa’s record. Let’s show the GOP that they can buy all the television ads they want, but they can’t buy New Mexico.
