At the State Fair today, Kansans got their first look at the choice this November and the contrast couldn't be clearer.

Today at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Kansans got their first real look at the choice on their ballot this November. Two debates just finished earlier today. One for governor, one for US Senate, and by the end of the day the contrast couldn't have been clearer.

On one side of the stage: Cindy Holscher and Adam Hamilton showed that they are Kansans making the case for the things that actually shape life in this state. Good jobs and the cost of living. Health care and the price of child care. Your freedoms and your right to have your vote counted. They showed up to fight for a Kansas that works for the people who live here.

On the other side: Ty Masterson and Roger Marshall showed that they are two men who have spent their political careers following an agenda written by Trump in Washington, not in Kansas.

That's the real story these debates put on display.

Ty Masterson wants to be your governor, the same Ty Masterson who collected more than a million dollars from a Koch-funded no-show job and who has spent their time as a legislative leader trying to throw out Kansans' mail ballots and who owes his nomination to Donald Trump's endorsement and Koch funding.

 

Roger Marshall wants six more years, the same Roger Marshall who cast a 4 a.m. vote to hand Trump's personal lawyer control of the Justice Department, who backed a trade war that's hammered Kansas farmers, and who walked out on his own constituents in Oakley rather than answer their questions.

These aren't moderate men caught in a tough race. They are exactly what they showed Kansas today: out-of-touch politicians marching in lockstep with a national, extreme agenda and answering to Washington and their donors long before they answer to you.

 

And here's the good news. Kansans are watching. Both of these races are close, closer than anyone in Washington expected. And when voters see the choice laid out clearly, we win.
