While millions of people are struggling to make ends meet:
- Trump promised every adult a $5,000 check if Republicans retain control of Congress. The proposal would cost roughly $1.2 trillion before interest, and even some Republicans called it an attempt to buy votes.
- Trump led the crowd in a pledge to “the greatest president in the history of the United States,” meaning himself. He told supporters to vote even if they had to “cheat like hell” and warned that people who failed to vote would “go to hell.”
- JD Vance called Democrats “lunatics,” accused Democratic candidates of wanting the “total eradication of Western civilization,” and told a protester waving a Mexican flag to “get your ass over there.”
- Ted Cruz claimed the Democratic Party had been overtaken by “communists and Islamists” who “hate Christians,” “hate Jews,” “hate the Constitution,” and “hate America.”
- Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick declared that the election was not about politics, but a biblical struggle between “darkness” and “light,” while labeling Democrats communists and socialists.
These statements are atrocious, and we are making sure voters across the country see exactly what MAGA leaders are saying. Through our Headquarters accounts on Instagram, TikTok, X, and other platforms, we put these moments in front of millions of followers, generating millions of views as we continue exposing the MAGA agenda and the extremist politicians driving it.
None of what they discussed will make rent more affordable. None of it will lower the cost of groceries or healthcare. None of it will protect Social Security, strengthen our democracy, or help working families get ahead.
But that was never the point.
The MAGA movement does not have answers for the people being hurt by its policies. It has distractions, scapegoats, impossible promises, and increasingly extreme demands for loyalty to Donald Trump.
And if Republicans retain control of Congress, they will treat it as permission to go even further. They will continue shielding Trump from accountability, attacking our rights and freedoms, and forcing an agenda that serves their wealthy allies while working people pay the price.
People For is fighting to end MAGA control of Congress, mobilize voters in the races that will determine the future of our country, and elect leaders who will defend our rights and put working families first.
But we have less than two months to reach the voters who can decide these elections, and the MAGA machine is pouring enormous sums into protecting its power.
The spectacle in Dallas may have appeared ridiculous, but the prospect of giving these extremists another two years of unchecked power is anything but.
