ACLU Supporter, I still remember the first time I voted and how excited I was to participate in democracy. I felt like I was part of history. That's a feeling I still have every time I step into the voting booth. But right now, our most fundamental right is under attack.

The Trump administration has tried to illegally compile a national database of private voter data, raid election offices, restrict mail-in voting, and force anyone registering to vote to provide documents like birth certificates and passports, to which millions do not have easy access.

With the midterm elections just weeks away, we cannot allow them to shut millions of eligible voters out of the democratic process. I know these times may feel unprecedented, but this work is not new to the ACLU. For 19 presidential administrations and 106 years, we have fought for the promise of democracy. Today, we're carrying that fight to the Trump administration, Congress, and to every state where our rights are threatened.

In the last year alone, the ACLU and our affiliates have taken over 80 legal actions in over two dozen states to preserve the right to vote for everyone. Ahead of the midterms, the ACLU is advocating for voter access from the federal level down to the hyperlocal. In key states like Georgia and Michigan, affiliates are directly engaging with local clerks and election board officials while mobilizing a new generation of poll workers to combat misinformation and safeguard the vote.

When it comes to our right to vote – and every one of our constitutionally-protected freedoms – the ACLU is using every tool at our disposal to defend our rights.
