A Las Vegas real estate firm wants its own private road into Yosemite National Park for their upscale resort.

Trump's Interior Department has called making this deal a "priority." We call it corruption.

And it's not just Yosemite. Trump's administration is working to strip protections from more than 4 million acres of California's national forests, permanently, by rolling back the Roadless Rule.

Here's what's at stake:

Yosemite belongs to everyone. In 1864, Abraham Lincoln signed the law that first set Yosemite aside for the public. Handing a piece of it to a Trump-donor developer so an upscale resort can have its own shortcut into the park breaks that promise.

Roadless forests keep Californians safer. For 25 years, the Roadless Rule has kept new roads and most commercial logging out of the wildest parts of our national forests, protecting watersheds and the places we hike, camp, and fish. It matters for fire safety, too: Studies show that forests with roads nearby are four times more likely to have wildfires. (1)

This summer, Trump cut nearly 3 million acres from Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah. Now it's a piece of Yosemite and millions of acres of our forests across the country.

But we've beaten plans like these before. Last year, public outrage killed a plan in Congress to sell off public lands. And when the Trump administration first moved to repeal the Roadless Rule, more than 625,000 comments poured in, overwhelmingly asking to keep it. These places belong to all of us, and by fighting together, we're going to keep it that way.
