Alarm bells are ringing this week after a former researcher for Anthropic and OpenAI posted a Twitter thread warning that “The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade.”

In response, Justice Democrat Justin J. Pearson said it best:

Their machine learning and deployment without any controls is an existential threat to our existence and the government must act immediately to stop them. That's what I will do in Congress." ; he is quote tweeting a post from @hilbertspaess that says: "The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear"

We can’t sit around and let Congress continue to twiddle their thumbs while Big Tech companies go unregulated and risk the end of humanity with their hubris.

Not only is the Democratic Party doing too little on this issue — many are actively promoting and fast-tracking AI development while taking campaign checks and receiving support from AI lobby groups and super PACs. They’re shameless sell-outs.

Progressive candidates like Justin aren’t sitting on the fence or being bought — he led against Elon Musk’s xAI colossus plant in Memphis and is ready to protect people by pausing AI development and banning new data centers the moment they get to Congress.
