That's how long is left before the public comment period closes on the Trump administration's plan to rescind the Roadless Rule — the protection that has kept nearly 6 million acres of Montana's national forest free of roads, logging, and mining for 25 years. The window shuts September 21st.

This is an unacceptable rollback written in Washington. A Forest Service now run by an Idaho billionaire who, according to the Washington Post, had nine aircraft sent to a seven-acre fire near his own ranch while other fires burned.

Region 1 in Missoula, the office that has protected Montana's forests for over a century, is being collapsed in the same breath. People who don't live here are making every one of those decisions and won't live with the consequences.
