September 12, 1962

President John F. Kennedy delivered his famous "We choose to go to the Moon" speech at Rice University. The speech outlined the ambitious goal of landing an American on the Moon before the end of the 1960s. It inspired a generation and was a pivotal moment in the U.S.-Soviet space race.
