BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump just signed a new order pushing to delist and remove protections for gray wolves which are currently protected under the Endangered Species Act!
Not because scientists recommended it. Not because they’re any less endangered. But because Trump decided he knew better than scientists.
Trump’s new order gives Secretary Doug Burgum only 90 days to finish an “evaluation” for gray wolves to determine whether they fit the criteria to be delisted or downlisted.
And based on past precedent when it comes to Trump and gray wolves, we know they are likely to remove protections which could put these wolves back in danger of extinction.
Wildlife experts have been clear that gray wolves still need federal protections to survive. Instead of listening to scientists, Trump is pushing to override these experts and single-handedly choose whether gray wolves remain protected.
