Friend– Gov. Spanberger said I could reach out. I’m JoAnna Mendoza, Democrat, single mom, and U.S. Marine Corps veteran running to flip toss-up AZ-06 blue.
These days, most people just call me Jo. But if you served with me during my 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, you probably knew me as “Momdoza.”
I earned that nickname because the Marines I led were like family, and they knew I always had their back. Now, I’m the Democrat running for Congress in AZ-06 because Arizonans deserve someone in Washington who has their back, too.
When I returned home to raise my son in Arizona after serving, I found the communities that raised me struggling. The corner store I had bought candy from as a kid was boarded up. My neighbors were struggling to make ends meet.
The community that I had been raised in, one that had each other's backs, was fading away – and it’s because working families don’t have someone in Congress who is focused on fighting for us.
I knew that it was up to me to be the change I wanted to see. So I’m stepping up to flip AZ-06 blue, because I believe we can all be a family again.
But running for office as a working-class single mom isn’t easy, and I need your support to flip this seat.
