Donald Trump just went on stage at the Republican national convention and promised every American a $5000 dividend check — but only if Republicans keep control of Congress this November.

For anyone who’s keeping count, that’s over $13,000 Donald Trump has promised to Americans in exchange for their votes. 

“So if Republicans win, you win with us, and you will get $5,000. It will be called the ‘Trump Dividend.’”

This is yet another brazen attempt from Donald Trump to tip the midterm elections in his favor. From his attempt to undermine vote-by-mail, to his push to gerrymander congressional districts in Republicans’ favor, to his empty promises to the American people, he’s shown he’s willing to break every rule in the book just to hold onto his trifecta.
