Demand clean transportation.

It’s the largest source of climate pollution in the United States.

We can’t keep ignoring our transportation pollution problem — and we’ll soon have a chance to fix it. Once Congress guarantees immediate economic relief, they must work to rebuild

Will you join us in demanding Congress rebuild better, and put people to work cleaning up our transportation sector?

Here’s why this is the smart move to make — for our economy, our health, and our climate:

  • Our lack of electric vehicle charging infrastructure is a key hurdle we need to clear to get EVs on the road in a big way.

Industry experts believe electric vehicles will likely cost the same as gasoline vehicles in just the next few years, and battery costs have dropped 73% since 2010. Next, we need Congress to invest in a coast-to-coast charging infrastructure.

  • We can’t let America fall behind.

Britain announced that it will ban the sale of all diesel and gas-powered cars after 2040. China took the global lead in terms of the number of electric vehicles on the road. India challenged itself to be gas-free by 2030, and France declared it will be all electric by 2040.

  • This is a health equity issue.

It’s not just greenhouse gases that our cars, trucks, and ships are spewing into the air. They’re also emitting dangerous air pollution that exacerbates the heart and lung conditions that we know make COVID-19 more deadly. The pollution — and its devastating health consequences — fall hardest on communities of color and low-income communities that, due to redlining policies, are often closest to highways, ports and airports.

  • And our government needs to catch up to industry leaders.

Lyft committed to transitioning 100% of the cars on its platform to EVs by 2030. Car and truck companies across the globe are ramping up their electric fleets. It’s time for our government to get on board — and we expect Congress to seize this chance.

Imagine a world where the U.S. has transitioned to electric vehicles, including our buses and trucks. A coast-to-coast charging infrastructure powers them all. Our planes, running on sustainable fuels, fly cleaner and more efficiently. Even our shipping ports are well on the way to zero emissions.

If this is the future you want to see, join us in calling on Congress to rebuild better.
