| Apple confirmed that iOS 27 will be released on Monday, September 14, four days before the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max become available on Friday, September 18. The software supports the same broad range of devices as iOS 26, extending back to the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE and later. |

Its new Insights tab brings together information including sleep, heart, fitness, vitals and readiness data, using Apple Intelligence on supported hardware to surface more personalized summaries. Apple is therefore using iOS 27 not only to add standalone features but to make more of its existing apps adaptive to the individual user's data. |

| Some of Apple's most notable announcements remain tied specifically to the iPhone 18 Pro hardware. Apple Reference Image, for example, uses the Pro model's new camera sensor to create a signed reference version of a photograph that can later be compared with an edited image. iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 provide the software infrastructure and APIs for viewing these reference images, but capture requires the new hardware. |
