Deb was grateful for the warm welcome at the Sandoval County Parade! It was a great day celebrating local traditions, catching up with neighbors, and hearing directly from families across the county about what matters most to them. And of course, enjoying great food and even better company.

Safe communities are built on trust, strong neighborhoods, and people looking out for one another. At National Night Out, Deb joined Albuquerque families, neighbors, and local law enforcement to strengthen the partnerships that keep our communities safe. As Governor, Deb will continue building these partnerships and making sure communities have the resources and support they need to keep New Mexico safe for every family.

New Mexico’s Tribal communities are an invaluable part of our state’s heritage, culture, and traditions. Deb was so happy to be back in Northwestern New Mexico to celebrate with the community at the 104th Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial Parade in Gallup. As a proud Pueblo woman, Deb understands the importance of listening to and working alongside Tribal communities. As Governor, she’ll make sure Tribal nations have a seat at the table and continue building strong, respectful relationships that honor their sovereignty, culture, and traditions.

Deb had a great time at the Chama Days Parade! Chama Days is a wonderful opportunity for families and neighbors to come together, enjoy the festivities, and celebrate the traditions that make Chama so special. Deb was grateful to spend time at Chaco Canyon, a place that carries generations of history, culture, and meaning for New Mexico’s Tribal communities. Standing among the ancient sites, Deb reflected on the generations who have cared for and fought to protect this sacred landscape. Chaco is more than a historic site. It is a living connection to the people and communities who have called this land home for generations.

That’s why Deb has always fought to protect Chaco. As Secretary of the Interior, she helped establish a 20-year withdrawal of federal lands within 10 miles of the park from new oil and gas leasing and mining claims. Now, those protections are under threat. The Trump administration is considering reversing them and reopening the Greater Chaco landscape to new mineral development. Deb knows what is at stake, and she’ll continue fighting to protect Chaco, honor Tribal sovereignty, and make sure this sacred landscape is here for generations to come.

In Alamogordo, Deb toured the New Mexico School for the Blind to learn more about how educators help visually impaired students build skills, confidence, and independence. From the classroom to independent living, students are gaining the tools they need to navigate life on their own terms. Deb will work to make sure every New Mexico student has the support and opportunities they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

New Mexico’s Downwinders have spent generations fighting for the recognition and justice they deserve. Deb was grateful to be in Alamogordo for a screening of First We Bombed New Mexico and to spend time with the families who have carried this fight forward for decades. Their stories are part of New Mexico’s story, and a reminder of the generations who have fought to make sure their communities are seen and heard. As Governor, Deb will make sure Downwinders and uranium workers can access the compensation they deserve and have support every step of the way.

In Mescalero, Deb saw the work underway to build a new facility that will provide essential supplies, shelter, and support when disaster strikes. Having a place where families can turn during an emergency is critical to helping communities prepare and recover. As Governor, Deb will work to ensure communities across New Mexico have the resources and infrastructure they need to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural disasters.  

Deb joined Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury in Ruidoso to see the burn scars firsthand and hear from families still recovering from devastating floods and the fires that preceded them.

The road to recovery doesn’t end when the flames are out and the smoke has cleared. As Governor, Deb will work alongside communities like Ruidoso to rebuild, strengthen infrastructure, and ensure New Mexico is better prepared for the disasters ahead. 

Deb loved spending Indian Market weekend in Santa Fe surrounded by so much talent, tradition, and creativity. She was proud to celebrate the Native artists who bring their stories, cultures, and traditions to life through their work. Indian Market is a special part of New Mexico, and Deb is always grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the artists and communities who make it so meaningful.

Deb spent time in Los Lunas with Mayor Charles Griego learning about the work underway to support this growing community. She visited the Los Lunas Boulevard construction site, where the project will improve traffic flow, public safety, emergency response, and connectivity while creating new opportunities for the community.

Juniper Sol Community Solar Garden is making the cost-saving benefits of renewable energy accessible to all, including renters and those who can’t afford the upfront installation of solar.

 
Here in New Mexico, we are blessed with vast renewable energy sources, including over 300 days of sun. By leaning into our resources, we can bring down utility costs for New Mexicans.

Deb was happy to be at Juniper Sol’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. As Governor, she’ll continue to work with and support energy initiatives like these that lower costs and improve life for New Mexicans across the state.

At the New Mexico Innovation Hub, Deb saw the work being done to grow New Mexico’s startup ecosystem, bring new technologies to market, and create opportunities right here at home.

New Mexico has the talent and resources to compete with anyone. As Governor, Deb will make sure the jobs and opportunities created benefit New Mexicans.

New Mexicans know how to show up for each other. Deb enjoyed seeing the work the Grants Community Pantry is doing to make sure their neighbors have food on the table and the support they need.

Deb toured the Lightning Dock geothermal plant to see firsthand how we can harness the energy beneath our feet to create good-paying jobs, strengthen our energy independence, and lower utility costs for families.

As Governor, Deb will go all in on New Mexico-made energy, from our 300 days of sunshine and incredible wind to our untapped geothermal potential. Together, we can build an energy economy that lowers costs for New Mexicans and keeps our state leading the way.

Deb spent an afternoon soaking up some sun and soccer with the NMSU Women’s Soccer team! Go Aggies! 

Deb had a great visit to NM Tech, where she learned more about their work in water mapping and cleaning up water pollution in our state. Deb is committed to building a healthy New Mexico, starting with clean water and removing legacy pollution. 

Deb visited Seco Spice to see how New Mexico chile is processed and prepared, then spent time at a local farm learning from the people who keep our agricultural communities strong. She’s grateful to the farmers, workers, and families who keep these traditions alive generation after generation. There’s nothing quite like chile season! 🌶️ 

Deb broke ground at Pacific Fusion’s new research and manufacturing campus right here in Albuquerque. New Mexico has the talent, labs, and ingenuity to lead the next generation of clean energy innovation. Investments like this mean good-paying jobs, a stronger economy, and new opportunities for New Mexicans. As Governor, Deb will work to make sure the technologies of the future are built and supported right here in New Mexico.

At the CREDA gubernatorial forum, Deb shared her plan to build more housing across New Mexico by cutting unnecessary red tape, speeding up permitting, lowering construction costs, and helping more first-time homebuyers afford a home.

New Mexicans deserve a safe, affordable place to call home — without having to choose between paying the rent and putting food on the table.

We know the problem. Now it’s time to get to work and get homes built for New Mexicans. 

In August, Deb kicked off her Roadrunnin’ Tour, her third statewide tour to visit all 33 counties across New Mexico. She met with voters in 14 communities, hearing directly from New Mexicans about what matters most to their families and communities. Everywhere she goes, Deb hears the same priorities: better education, reliable healthcare, clean water, and safer communities. Deb is excited to keep hitting the road, listening to New Mexicans, and bringing their voices with her every step of the way.
