This week New Hampshire chose Chris Pappas to be our Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate.
Thank you to everyone who knocked doors, made calls, and contributed what you could through emails like this one over the past year. This happened because of you.
We are officially in the general election, and we’re starting it in a position of strength.
Now for the hard part.
Our opponent is John Sununu. He is a former U.S. Senator with the most recognizable last name in New Hampshire politics, and he will have every dollar national Republican groups can afford to send his way.
Last week Inside Elections moved our race from Tilt Democratic to Toss-up.

There are only three Toss-up Senate races in the entire country, and New Hampshire is one of them.
Here’s why that matters: Republicans currently hold 53 seats in the Senate. For Democrats to win the majority, we need to net four seats. Democrats already hold New Hampshire’s Senate seat, so this isn’t a pickup opportunity — it’s a must-hold. If we lose it, Democrats would need five pickups instead of four, and the path gets very narrow very quickly.
There is no Democratic Senate majority without a win in New Hampshire.
The general election started on Wednesday. We have 53 days to outwork and outcommunicate John Sununu, and the costs go up quickly from here: organizers in all ten counties of the state, TV and digital ads reserved before all the inventory evaporates, and the ability to answer every attack they lob at us.
That’s why we’re setting a critical goal: raise $100,000 in the first 72 hours of the general election from emails like this one.
