| Remembering September 11, 2001 |

| Today, we remember the 2,977 Americans —including nine Rhode Islanders— who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on September 11, 2001. |
| |
| On the 25th anniversary, we hold the families of the victims in our prayers, offer gratitude to the first responders who ran toward danger, and remember the countless Americans who stepped up in the days that followed. |
| |
| We must turn memory into action and recommit ourselves to building an America rooted in our shared values of freedom, opportunity, and service to one another. |
| |
| We will never forget. |

| This past week as we celebrated Labor Day, we are called to recognize this holiday's origin: working people’s fight for fairness. |

| That fight runs deep in Rhode Island. |
| |

| In 1824 at Slater Mill in Pawtucket, workers led the first industrial strike in American history, demanding fair pay and better working conditions. More than a century later, thousands of Rhode Island textile workers walked off the job in the 1934 General Textile Strike. They stood up because they knew working people deserved better. |
| |
| Today, building on that legacy, I’m standing with Rhode Island workers and workers across our country to keep fighting for good jobs, fair wages, safe workplaces, and the right to organize. |
| |

| Congressman Amo celebrates the living legacy of workers with the Rhode Island Labor History Society at the annual Labor Day Address at Moshassuck Cemetery, the location of the 1934 Saylesville Massacre. |
| |
| We are stronger when we respect the dignity of the people who make this country strong. |

Like many communities around the country, Tiverton is facing elevated levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, otherwise known as PFAS, in its drinking water.
I will continue to monitor the situation, and my office will remain in close contact with the town and state officials as they work toward clean, safe drinking water for all residents.

Submissions are now open for the 2026 Congressional App Challenge!
Middle and high school students who live in Rhode Island’s First Congressional District are invited to take part in the challenge. The deadline for submissions is October 26th at 8 PM.
The winning app will be featured on the Congressional App Challenge website and will also be eligible for display in the U.S. Capitol.

Enjoyed meeting Dexter, the fire dog, and Blue, the police dog, as we honored our first responders with great company, family games, and burgers, and dogs!

This National Recovery Month, I visited CODAC to hear about their substance abuse and behavioral health treatment, recovery, and prevention services.

That would create confusion for voters and election officials and put millions of ballots at risk. |
